This is one of our sweeties here at Love A Child. Her name is Dimelia. She is 20 years old. She was brought to us by her father when she was about three. She had been badly burned from her neck down to her waist. The scar tissue had healed such as that she could not turn her neck or raise her arms. By a miracle, we got her to Shriners Hospitals for Children – Boston. She made many trips back and forth between the Shriners Hospital and Haiti. She began to learn English. When her last surgery was due, her visa had expired and she could not return to the States. But she had begun to have pains in her chest as the scar tissue was expanding. We contacted our friends, David and Angie George, who had a contact in the Dominican Republic. That couple, RL and Vanessa, got Dimelia to a specialist for burns. He said that to begin with, Dimelia would need “four shots.” These shots would help with the scar tissue and the pain. (But she still needs surgery in the future.) She has had three shots, but when waiting on the last one, the coronavirus struck. Everything shut down. She is waiting on the doctor to take her in for her last shot. To make matters worse, the border between Haiti and the DR has closed. We ask for your prayers for Dimelia, who is a devout Christian. She really misses her Haitian family. She wants to be a doctor, and has already applied to a university in Italy, where our Haitian daughter Florence is attending. We pray that Dimelia will get the treatments she needs and that she will be able to go to that English-speaking university. She always says, “Whatever the Lord’s will is, I will be happy.” We love Dimelia so much and we are so, so proud of her! Sherry
