My heart is broken. Early this morning, I received news from the Malnutrition Center that one of the four precious babies we are currently caring for, Chasline Paul, died. She was only 14 months old. Chasline came to us from a very poor family high in the mountains above Fonds Verrettes, already fighting a battle that was so difficult, so unfair.
We did everything we could. Our Malnutrition team cared for her round the clock and fought for her life with everything we had. But sometimes, despite all efforts, a child comes to us too late.
Because her parents have no phone and no way to be reached, I had to send our team into the mountains to bring them this heartbreaking news in person. No parent should ever have to hear that their baby is gone. We will bring them here, stand with them, and take care of their little girl with dignity and love.
Moments like this remind us how real this battle is. Chasline is not a statistic. Chasline is not a number. This is a little girl with a name, a family, and a life that mattered deeply! And yet, even in the midst of this sadness, I want to say thank you.
Because of your support, we will be able to save hundreds and hundreds of babies just like Chasline. Children who are starving, on death’s door, will have a chance to be alive, healthy, and back in the arms of their families. This work matters. It is making a difference every single day.
Today, we mourn the loss of one. But we continue the fight for the many.
Please pray for Chasline’s family as they receive this devastating news. Pray for our team as they carry this burden. And thank you for standing with us in this mission to save lives.
This battle was lost, but with your help, we continue to fight.
P.S. … The other three little people in the photos are doing great!
