I first saw Esther in the arms of her mother, Mdm. Jesula. Esther was a baby and her sister, Widlene, was very small, perhaps four or five years old. This happened when Bobby and I lived in the mountains of Haiti. Mdm. Jesula arrived at our gate, and when I went out to see them, I saw a “very thin lady” who wanted us to take her baby, Esther, and her little girl, Widlene.
I made arrangements to take Mdm. Jesula to the hospital and we kept both little girls until she came home. We found out that Mdm. Jesula was suffering from “starvation.” She didn’t have good food to eat in a long time. She had given all she had to these two children. We built a small house for Mdm. Jesula and gave her a job. We put the two girls, Widlene and Esther, in school. Widlene will graduate from “cooking school” next month, and Esther will start college to become a dental hygienist.
Both girls serve the Lord and are praying for a Christian husband, “just like Poppie Bobby!” God has been good to us, to our family, and to our “Haitian family!” Please remember our family and our Haitian family in your prayers. Thank you, Partners! Sherry
