It was such a blessing to share eyeglasses with many organizations that came to us this week. One of these organizations was our friend, Diddi, of “Mission Haiti Helping Kids.” Eyeglasses from MAP International were donated, and they were new colorful, wonderful “reading glasses!” Diddi has a ministry helping children, especially young adults, and she was able to fit a lot of people with new glasses… Two of the people were Gina and Thelma! Both “young ladies” were so thankful for the glasses.
I know I’ve shared this story with you, but years ago when we first began working in Haiti, I saw an old man in the mountains sitting under a tree trying to read his Bible. He had “made” some “glasses” by cutting out the bottoms of the Coca-Cola bottles and wiring them together! His “glasses” enabled him to read!
From that day on, I have had a great burden for those who are poor and cannot see, cannot walk, or cannot be normal at all! We take things for granted, like being able to read our Bible. We are all so blessed! Now, I always have compassion for people who don’t have, but yet, they try!
Reading glasses… Cheap and inexpensive, but yet, for some poor people, they can never afford one pair!!! God bless MAP International for this wonderful gift from God!!! Thanks to MAP International so many have been blessed this week! Sherry
