Feeding Haiti

Feeding Haiti

Just look at the beautiful children and their mothers. Recently, we distributed food to over 90 organizations that also feed children and their families. (I mentioned 90 organizations, but we have more on our list. Sometimes they cannot make it due to violence or roadblocks, but we always give to 90 plus organizations.) These sweet pictures came from our friend, Didi, at Mission Haiti Helping Kids. They were one of the organizations that picked up food. We are running low on food now. At our “food distribution” in L’Artibonite, Haiti, we had given out the Feed My Starving Children food. This is a large feeding program that needs 200 boxes of food every two weeks.

If we do not have enough, we have to buy white rice to give to them. The good thing is that Haitians know how to add things, like “moringa” and other healthy plants that grow wild. They are always picking leaves and making sauces or teas, when available. They have learned to “degaje,” which means “make do” or “get yourself out of a bad situation!” These are tough people who do everything they can to survive, but it’s hard to do with no job and no food. Please remember the poor in Haiti with your giving. There is no “government plan” to assist families who lose their jobs or contract the virus, etc. Everyone here is at the “mercy of God and His people.” God bless you. Sherry
