For the poor children in Haiti “looking into an empty bowl” is one of their worst fears. Most poor children living in the mountains have stories too sad to tell, about “drinking salt water” (for food), eating dirt cookies, going days without anything, or watching a sibling being sold by their mother in order to get money to buy more food for the others.
