For quite some time, we have been feeding the children and their families in L’Artibonite, as well as many other villages. In the village of L’Artibonite, we have been cooking “14 large chodias” a day, in addition to the family feeding program. (A chodia is a huge, huge heavy-duty cooking pot, which they can use over a fire.) Each chodia can feed 80 to 100 children. We have been cooking this food every day for a long, long time, six days a week.
With the recent political crisis in Haiti, the thugs and gangs with high powered guns control many of the areas that we have to go through before we can get to L’Artibonite. So, it has been a struggle to get the food there. Then, they let us through… But we are praying and believing that the rest of the containers of food will be released and that the roads will be clear and safe to deliver the food soon to L’Artibonite and other areas.
