Feeding the Hungry in Nan Savaan

“Nan Savaan” What does that mean? It means, “in the weeds or in the grass.” But, where we were this morning, there was little grass… only weeds, thorn bushes, rocks, and “nothing.” This little village is in “the middle of nowhere.” It is near a riverbed but has high mountains all around… very little trees, mostly some thorn bushes, but nothing exciting. Here we found entire families “existing on nothing.”

Mothers would tell us how they tried to sell some things, even rocks, to get a few coins to buy food… other mothers make a living washing clothes in the river, but there is little water, just little trickles. It is amazing that these people and children are still alive! We cooked the Feed My Starving Children food, for all the children who were in this area today. Usually, we would have boxes of the FMSC food to send home to parents, but we did not have enough of the Feed My Starving Children food, due to trucking problems across the U.S. So, we decided to buy large bags of rice to give away. But, we had just enough of the FMSC rice, to have hot meals ready for the children.

The people, especially the mothers, were so thankful! You would have thought they had a “pot of gold!” The little children loved the FMSC rice so much… the cooks put together a good fish sauce to go on top of the rice and it was a big hit!! Everyone went home happy!

We wish to thank our Haitian crew and also Bryon Ray, who has been staying at Love A Child, working hard on many projects! When everyone works together to feed the hungry, the job will get done! We are thankful that we were not attacked by gangsters, as what is happening in so many areas of Haiti. God is good to protect us!! Just look at these pictures, friends, and say to yourself, “I am blessed because I give!” And, you are! Thank you so much for everything.

We also want to thank Townley Engineering for all the wonderful candy for the children. Children everywhere love candy!!
