3-week ATC Extension Class

Final week of 3-week ATC Extension Class: 10-31-17 11:00 PM

We are so proud of the Agricultural Training Center (ATC) and all that it is doing to change the lives of Haitians. Here is an update from Rad Hazelip, the “Papa” of the ATC.

“This is the final week for the seven students attending this session of the ATC Agricultural Extension School. The intensive three-week course in sustainable agriculture methods for Haiti is preparing these students to return to their villages and begin teaching and demonstrating the “best practice” methods of sustainable gardening, which they have been learning in this extension course. This “hands-on” course has equipped the students with the knowledge and the confidence to extend their skills to many others who are eager to become self-sufficient and provide nutritious food for their families and to sell at markets. The students live together, study together and work together to acquire these life-changing skills. During the course, they have studied together learning how to prepare the soil, make natural fertilizers and insecticides, compost, and use water-conserving drip irrigation systems, among many other things.

This coming weekend, they will graduate and begin to help others change their lives through gardening “God’s Way.” We thank Wilner, our Director of the ATC and teacher, and we thank all the donors who support this valuable project. Their faithful gifts that support this school will change lives for many generations. We also thank Chapin Living Waters for their donation of the drip irrigation kits, Hope Seeds for their seed donations, and Z23 Super Hoe for tools donated for each student to take home with them.”
