Rad Hazelip from our Love A Child office is here in Haiti overseeing the first Chicken School. We are so excited about this sustainability project and helping Haitians help themselves.
Here is an update from Rad:
“Today began our first class of Lekol Poul Mirak (“chicken school”). Six sponsored students are here for a week to learn the basics of raising chickens. The students have come from far away villages around Haiti for the school. This course will teach them enough to raise chickens for anything from feeding a few families with a yard flock, to raising enough chickens for a small egg business or a small broiler business.
Here are the students in their classroom work. Later they begin their practical work at the Poul Mirak cooperative. You can sponsor a student for these life-changing classes for $155. Sponsoring these training classes helps many people gain new skills of self-reliance and restores their hope and dignity.”
