Food Distribution in Lierve, Nippes

These food pictures came in last evening from Lierve, Nippes, South Haiti, in one of the areas where the earthquake hit. Hubert (in the blue shirt) and the people are working hard distributing our rice, beans, and cooking oil. Some families have to eat dirt, among others, to fill their stomachs. It had taken three days, I believe, to unload the large boat of food that came into the area where the earthquake hit.

Thank you to our friends who made this possible. We are working where the “epicenter of the earthquake” was. After the earthquake, with your help, we delivered tons of food to southern Haiti. Then, with your help, we purchased a little over 2,000 tents and put them up for families who lost their houses in the earthquake. Now, while living in their tents, we are building the Gabion houses for the people. All the family members are working, including the kids! I signed a contract for 100 houses for $9,000 each. We may stop at the 100 mark. We are building, now, by faith. Faith doesn’t know we don’t have all the money! Now we are back giving our rice, beans, and cooking oil.

Sherry, myself, Jesse, Philimond, Watson, and maybe others have plans within several days to go there and help distribute food and give you a report on the Gabion houses. Believe me, I tried to get Sherry to stay behind, but she’s too stubborn! I have tried. Looks like we can’t fly. We’ve looked at other options. It appears we must travel through the most dangerous “gang-infested places” in Haiti. It will be extremely dangerous. They are kidnapping people every day, sometimes 20 times or more a day, on roads like the one we live on. Some are shot dead, others robbed and beaten up. We are praying for wisdom and God’s guidance. These gangs do not represent the sweet people of Haiti. The good news is that in southern Haiti where we are building the houses and giving out food, there are no gangs at all! Love is something you do.
