All of us who have gardened in any fashion know the pleasure of finally seeing your flowers one day erupt into bright, colorful blooms, or your vegetables finally get to the point of being able to harvest them and enjoy a meal of fresh, nutritious food from your own efforts.

Can’t you see that joy and pleasure on the faces of these ATC (Agricultural Training Center) staff here with their large harvest? During these extremely tense and dangerous times in Haiti, there is a double harvest from these gardens — food, for sure, but also a happiness and deep joy from seeing something positive and fruitful growing instead of the constant worry and tension from the threat of the nearby gangs.

This joy happens all over again when the harvesters get to the various kitchens around Love A Child village with their crops.

Everyone forgets their troubles and rejoices in the new bounty. Galatians 5:22 shows us that “…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.”
