This is Jovanie Jean. She is one of our older children here at Love A Child. She has a degree in nursing and is very, very bright! Honestly, we want to think that all of our children will be “little angels,” but raising these many children here in Haiti is not easy.

When Jovanie first went to nursing college, even she will admit that she was stubborn, rebellious, self-willed, and a “wild child!” I got so mad at her that I felt like… Well, I can’t really tell you, but some of you who know me well, know that she kept me “on my knees!”

Her Director at the nursing college told me, “I will keep my hand on her! She will probably be my best student!” And she was! She completely changed! She made very good grades in college, and she is always looking for a challenge!!! When she went with us on Mobile Medical Clinics, she was a great asset. She loves nursing!!

However, she now has a new love… to be a “midwife.” Here in Haiti, they call this “fanm saj.” She is now in college to become a “fanm saj” and she will be finished in a year and a half. She will probably be “one of our best midwives!”
