George is Getting Married and Love is in the Air!

“Georges… AKA George!”

His story is amazing! I used to go to downtown Port-au-Prince “by myself” to buy medicines for my Mobile Clinics. (Can’t do that now, due to the gangs.) I always bought my medicines from one particular pharmacy and grew to be friends with a young lady at the counter. She knew we had an orphanage and told me a story about a poor woman with “too many kids” who was pregnant… and she said that woman was going to have her baby at the “General Hospital” (hospital for the poor in Haiti) and leave her baby there! She could not afford to raise another child. The young lady asked if we could take the baby and I said, “Yes.”

But soon, “Hurricane Georges” struck and the mother had her baby during the hurricane. When it passed, I went down to see her and she handed me the baby, and we named him “Georges,” after the hurricane. We shortened the name to George and raised him. He was a “little spoiled” with his orphanage auntie named “Celita,” and I thought I was gonna have to “throw him overboard!” HA! But, George grew up to be a sweet and honest kid.

He learned to drive heavy equipment when he was just about 11 or 12. (Behind my back! Ha!) He was a natural. He finished High School and got his Diploma for “Heavy Duty Equipment.” He began working full-time for Love A Child and then… fell in love, with sweet little ole “Agoustine” across the street! She has been the love of his life! And, they are getting married tomorrow afternoon!

We are so proud of George! He is hard-working, loves God, loves his “Haitian family and his sweetie,” and is very honest! Be sure to check back tomorrow for “Wedding Pictures…” Love is in the air, again!

Tomorrow at 3:00 pm, George gets married!!!

PS: George looks just like his real father… bald-headed except for a little hair in the back!
