Haitians don’t celebrate Thanksgiving as we do in the states. Christmas and especially New Year’s are big holidays. Although they don’t have money for gifts, they have a lot of church services and love to listen to songs on the radio.
Our children here have sponsors who send in gifts for Christmas, so the kids are excited! They will decorate a tree and put up some lights… our children here don’t go to malls, dances, etc., so Christmas is their happiest thing to look forward to. They will hear and tell the story of Jesus, attend “lots of church services,” and have a great time of fellowship with other children in the neighborhood. And yes, they are working “hard,” but they are “having too much fun!” Ha! We love these children!!
