Her mother died during a C-Section and her father deserted her to go to the Dominican Republic. He never returned for Ginyia. She had been raised by her 17-year-old cousin, but when she could no longer take care of her, Ginyia was taken to the Department of Social Services. She was very shy but her “new sisters,” took good care of her.
Ginyia is now 7, in third grade, and does a great job in school. You can see that a lot of time is taken up in “braiding hair.” Ginyia is getting her hair braided by her “sister,” Betina. She loves church, music, and especially the Praise Dances. She is the youngest member on the team and loves it! Her nickname is “fonton boulet” (big head). She just laughs when she is called by her nickname. She does not know what she wants to be, but one thing is for sure, she loves “Praise Dances” and is very good at it! We love Ginyia!! She is a sweetie, Sherry
