God Made it

“We had traveled for hours on foot and by mule to reach the mountain area of Covant. We had to climb mountains by “sharing mules,” because there were not enough mules for our team. We were going to do a “remote mobile clinic!” It took us a total of nine hours by four-wheel-drive, on foot, and by mules! There were not enough mules for our Mobile Clinic team so everyone “walked and shared mules!” When we arrived, we began to set up the tents, but as we worked, we noticed a poor woman with 8 children, (two sets of twins). The tiny child she had in her arms had double club feet. His name was Dieuferly, which means “God made it!”

We wanted to take him with us to see how we could help him get surgery.  At that time, the U.S. Military was doing surgeries. They offered to operate, “even though they were not specialists with club feet.” That began long, painful days, and years, because the surgeries were not 100 percent successful.

Dieuferly suffered all his life with severe pain, until Jesse Ostrander, who works for Love A Child, found a doctor in the Dominican Republic who was a specialist. He operated on Dieuferly’s feet! Success!

Today, Dieuferly does a lot of camera work for us, and he and his “Orphanage brothers” organize all the feeding programs. God had blessed him with a good business sense, and he does camera work and photography, and operates a successful restaurant business.

The best thing about Dieuferly is his love for the poor, especially the children! He does everything he can for the poor children of Haiti! Thank you, partners, for helping us raise children who love God, love the poor, and love “their neighbor,” as themselves! God bless you and God bless our Haitian children!
