Yesterday, a young mother named Madamn Silien, age 20, came to our Birthing Center to give birth to her first baby. The baby was born with deformed legs and weighed 2 pounds and 4 ounces. The mother was so grieved, that she did not want to hold her baby… at first. (Many times, when a baby is born with a deformity, the parent or parents believe it is due to “voodoo” and they will not take care of it.)

Kaeli and I have talked to the mother, explaining that several of our children from Love A Child had deformities, but God made a way for them. We asked Dieuferly, one of our Love A Child Children’s Home kids, to come and talk to her and explain how he had “clubfeet,” and couldn’t walk, but God made a way for him. Now, he is our photographer and is learning to be a videographer and editor. There is “hope…” The Haitians say, “hope makes us live.” So, please remember this baby in your prayers. We will keep you informed if we hear something. They want to take her to St. Vincent’s Center for Children with Disabilities in Haiti first. That is a great place to start. Sherry
