To those of you who want to know the challenges of raising 85 children, many with sicknesses and severe deformities, you can imagine how good it is to hear good news of a child with a serious handicap.

Lionel came to us years ago after we received a phone call here in Haiti regarding what had happened to this young boy of about seven years old. His father, deep in Voodoo, was angry at Lionel for some small thing and held his hand in boiling water “to teach him a lesson.”

For years, we sent him to several doctors here in Haiti because all his fingers had “melted together!” There was nothing they could do! Finally, about 6 months ago, we found a doctor in the Dominican Republic who agreed to do surgery. The surgeon had to take other skin and rebuild fingers! Today, Lionel came back from his visit with good news! He no longer has to wear his special “glove” but just continues to do exercises!! This was a miracle for Lionel, who has always wanted to be a mechanic!! “Good news from a faraway land,” all because of the God we serve and His children, like you!
