Haiti’s Problems

There are some areas in Haiti, especially South Haiti and Central Haiti, where it is very peaceful. The people there have not allowed gangs to enter, especially in the areas where we just came back from… the Nippes area.

But in Port au Prince, the capital, the Martissaint Street area, Croix des Bouquets, and some other areas, these have all been taken over by gangs. In fact, many of our employees have not been home for several weeks, because the gangs have put “containers” blocking the roads. Local tap-taps cannot get through, and neither can people on motorcycles, etc. It is very dangerous.

Risking their lives…
This also means that people on the other side cannot get to our Clinic or our Birthing Center. Just recently, one of our ambulance drivers named Michael Volcy was taking a patient to a Hospital. The patient needed fast, critical care… but, the gangs stopped our ambulance. They did not kill our driver, but they took everything he had… his money and his phone, but thank God, they let him go. Patients are now “risking their lives” to come to our Jesus Healing Center because they cannot get to other clinics or hospitals. Some patients try to come on foot, and some come by boat across the lake.

One man, John Patrick Romelus, had suffered a horrible burn on his chest. It resembles a burn with boiling water, which is very dangerous. He risked his life to come because his pain was so severe. He would rather take a chance going through the gangs than die of an infection. Our doctor and nurses immediately and tenderly went to work on him, to clean his wound and gave him dressings, antibiotics, and something for his pain. He was “extremely thankful” for the care.

Our hearts break for the poor…
They are suffering from a lack of food. Even our food containers cannot make it through the gang territory yet, so food is out of reach. When the poor are sick, they cannot make it to our clinic, unless they take their lives in their own hands. Our prayer is, “God, please send help for Haiti. We are willing to work hard, but we cannot do what we want to do with these gangs in control. Please send us help, oh, Lord.”

Thank you partners for your prayers and love. We are thankful to Joyce Meyer MinistriesHand of Hope, for their monthly support of our Jesus Healing Center. God bless you all, we love you.
