Today is Widlene’s Birthday!

She is 20 years old and we love her so much, and are so proud of her! She is now attending University INUKA here in Haiti and is taking Management. She is a great “organizer” and always dependable! She is a wonderful help to me at the Love A Child Children’s Home! She helps with the children and manages all the food! She does this on weekends when she and other college kids come home.

Each Saturday, I take Widlene and several other older girls to shop at the market. They buy vegetables, eggs, etc. for the Children’s Home, and always love to help in the kitchen! Widlene loves to cook! She is always “cooking up a special dish” she has created, and, of course, her brothers and sisters are the “tasters.” She is a devout Christian and always puts “Jesus first!”

Widlene’s mother came to our gate about 16 years ago, dying. She just wanted us to promise to take in her two children, “after she died!” But when I heard this, we made plans to send her mother to a hospital. We found out that her mother, Madamn Jesula, was malnourished and anemic. We took care of her, and gave her a job at our Orphanage, and of course, brought in her two little girls, Widlene and her sister Esther.

Widlene will go far in her life! We say, “Happy Birthday,” baby! We love you!
