Helping people reach their highest potential…

Helping people reach their highest potential…

Bobby and Sherry realized that God’s plan was for Love A Child to add Development for Sustainability to their ministry, to help the Haitian people learn to help themselves and live a secure, Godly life out of the cycle of poverty. There are two main parts to our Development for Sustainability Program:

  • Gwo Maché Mirak – the “Miracle Marketplace” in Fond Parisien, Haiti. The Marketplace provides a clean, safe, and Christian open-air market that provides employment for more than 600 local people who have set up businesses as vendors, or “marchands.” The Marketplace includes Farmer John’s butcher shop and Poul Mirak chicken and eggs farm, as well as a popular gas station and restaurants. It is an active place that promotes enterprise and gives the local community a place to meet, shop, and fellowship.
  • Agricultural Training Center (ATC) is a “Living Classroom” where we demonstrate “best farming practices” and techniques of “farming God’s way” to improve food production and nutritive value sustainably, while improving the environment and preserving natural resources.

At the ATC, we conduct two different training courses – a 2-year course and a three-week course – where we feature things such as:

  • ATC demonstration gardens for vegetables and trees
  • Shade houses for plant propagation
  • Model home of sustainable living with running water, compost toilet
  • Worm farming and composting to make organic fertilizers, and using heavy mulches to control weeds and preserve soil moisture
  • A seed bank and distribution program for Hope Seeds International
  • “Chapin Living Waters” drip irrigation systems
  • Demonstrations of “Appropriate Technologies” such as improved cooking with rocket stoves or propane stoves, compost toilets, solar dryers for food preservation, solar lighting, rainwater harvesting, etc.

Our Development for Sustainability programs help Haitians learn ways to live sustainably with very little resources. It is a way for Haitians to help Haitians, and to have “food for life.”

God has blessed us with this outreach to be able to bless others, with your help.

Thank you,

Rad Hazelip, Assistant Executive Director
