At 5:00 a.m. at our Love A Child Children’s Home, Lionel is already up and out in the courtyard, ready to work! Even though it is barely daylight, Lionel and the kids have already heard the “horn” go off and Mr. Camy has the volume button turned up to “10!” It means, “Mommie Sherry says it’s time to get up and go to work boys and girls!” They will be cleaning their rooms, mirrors, showers, etc., along with watering all the plants!
Lionel is “not afraid of work!” You see, when he was about six years old, Lionel was waiting to get a bite of food from the big pot where his mom was cooking. After all the kids ate, Lionel stuck his hand in the pot for one more handful of rice. But his dad went “insane” and grabbed Lionel’s hand, holding it down in the hot burning coals from the fire! It “melted all his fingers together!” Jesse Ostrander found a doctor in the Dominican Republic to do hand surgery on Lionel! It was a success!!
He is now 17 years old and attending 8th grade. He wants to become a mechanic! He loves soccer and basketball! Lionel is thankful to the Lord, to his doctor, to Jesse, and to everyone! He gives God all the glory.
