In the quiet village of Petit-Goâve, Gabion House #11 now bears a name that carries both deep sorrow and quiet hope: the Jacqueline Deroche family. Jacqueline is a mother who lost almost everything when Hurricane Melissa tore through southern Haiti. In a single devastating night, she lost four of her children and her father—five precious lives from her family. Overnight, the world she knew disappeared. From that day forward, she had nowhere to call home.

For months, she carried the weight of that loss with nowhere to rest her head… until today. Thanks to the compassion and the generosity of donors who refused to look away, Jacqueline was handed the keys to a solid, beautiful house built of Gabion. A real home. A place where she and the remaining members of her family can finally begin again.

The entire village gathered to witness the moment. Neighbors stood in quiet joy as the Love A Child team placed the keys in Jacqueline’s hands. Tears mixed with smiles.
