I’m a Little Blessing!

Madamn Norah Pierre, like so many poor mothers here in Haiti, must be strong enough to face any situations that come along. When a husband abandons his wife and children there are no laws in Haiti that say, “You must pay child support or go to jail!”

Most Haitian men, especially those who are uneducated, want to have a lot of children so they can brag about how they had so many children! It seems that this a “status symbol,” in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Madamn Norah Pierre lives in a tiny house in Ganthier, (which is surrounded by gangs). She is a Christian, trying to raise four children. Her husband left her, pregnant, with four kids to support! He went to the Dominican Republic! During her pregnancy, the sound of gangs and gunshots filled the air, as it still does every night.

But, in spite of all this, she gave birth in our beautiful Love A Child Birthing Center, to an “adorable, baby girl!” (With no cost!)  She was surrounded by Christian nurses and San Famns (specialists who deliver babies). She not only left with a baby girl but with new clothes for her baby, diapers, toys, clothes, etc. Special thanks to our partner who sent us these adorable baby “onesies” marked “I’m a Little Blessing!” Thank you, partners!
