Early in the morning, a driver came through our gate trying to rush a woman to our Birthing Center. He was driving one of those small open bed trucks and he was “headed to our Birthing Center.” We did not know that a young, 18-year-old girl had given birth, but the baby was still attached to the cord.

One of our “Mid-Wives” jumped in the truck to help. This young woman, sadly, was just 18 and in school and not married. She is from a village not far from us. She only had about six months left to finish High School. So many young girls get involved with young men. We try to keep our children close to us, so this won’t happen to them. We tell them “You need Jesus first, and an Education next. God will give you a husband in His time…”

Then they say, “Yes, but there’s no more left like Poppie (Bobby)!”  Well, that’s probably true.
