Joseph and his sister, Sarah, were both abandoned by their father when their mother died. (Half of the children from our Love A Child Orphanage came to us because their mother died and their father could not take care of them, or their father abandoned them!) They arrived at our orphanage both with malnutrition. It took a while before they got their health back.
Sarah is now studying to be a dentist, and Joseph will graduate from high school this summer. In the meantime, he works as a “Love A Child painter,” but he has other plans. He wants to be a mechanic (and with all the broken vehicles we have, we surely need more mechanics!) That is always a way to make money in Haiti because cars are always breaking down, and good mechanics are rare! Joseph is sweet, kind and humble, (at least, around me! Ha! I tend to scare the boys to death!!)
He is so respectful and always speaks in a soft tone of voice. He gets along well with everyone! Haitian fathers “throw away a precious gift” when they abandon a child. However, the children here never feel “abandoned.” They are like one big family, and they know they are loved!! That’s how God wants us to feel. We are in “His family,” and He will never leave us nor forsake us!
We love Joseph and his sister, Sarah!
