“Just Use What You Got…”

There is a parable in the Bible in Matthew 25 about a landowner who had to travel to a far country. So, he called his stewards and gave them money to invest while he was gone… to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one. The one who had five talents invested it and it doubled to $26,400. The one who had two talents made $10,560, but the servant who had one talent, (value of $5,280), hid the talent in the earth. The landowner was furious because the “one talent” could have been doubled, but the servant didn’t want to use what he had. So the talent was taken from him and given to the one who did the most with what he had.

Sometimes, people don’t want to use what they have; they want God to start them off “big!” We had a friend, who has now gone to be with the Lord. Wow… what singing and musical talent he had!!! But, he just could not be a success. He didn’t want to do anything from the ground up. He wanted God to start him off with “ten talents.” Bobby said, “Brother, just rent a storefront and start a Church from there and God will bless it.”

He said, “I will if God will start me off with a big Church and a thousand people.” But, that never happened… Sadly, he died with his great ability to ministry, sing, and play the piano. The moral of this story is… “You Don’t Need a Whole Lot! Just Use What You Got!”

Have a great day, and “don’t hide those talents!”
