Due to the hostile environment here in Haiti caused by gangs, so many poor parents struggle to feed their children every day. Several years ago, when Haiti was safe from gangs, mothers were always “out on the streets selling!” They were able to feed their children better food. But due to the gangs, mothers are feeding their small children and toddlers things like cookies or crackers… but no milk, no meat, or anything good for them. Now, we see that malnutrition and hunger are killing children and babies.

Kenia’s mother took her to our Jesus Healing Center Clinic here. The doctor gave her a full exam and told her mother that if “she did not leave the baby in our care, she would die.” Our doctor sent her to our Malnutrition Clinic, shown in this photo. Look at the baby’s pathetic face! She had severe Kwashiorkor Malnutrition! Just look at Kenia’s legs! So sad! She was near death!

We sent her to our Malnutrition Clinic and changed her diet. These severely malnourished babies need a special type of milk that is very expensive and we must “send away” for it. After several months, you can see the change in Kenia! She is eating, laughing, and smiling! She’s so cute and now she is laughing and getting into trouble! Ha! What a little stinker!
