Little Kenzy ‘s mother died during childbirth. His father had just died before this… so their Haitian pastor brought Kenzy all the way down from the mountains of Demesseau to our place. Kenzy was malnourished and “sickly.” As he grew, he was always “frail,” and “sickly.” He was slow to play with other children because he just did not feel good. We later found out that he had Sickle Cell Anemia. This is an inherited blood cell disease. This happens when there are not enough healthy blood cells to carry oxygen throughout your body. Normally the round red cells flow easily through blood vessels, but the moon-shaped sickle cells (shaped like a sickle) get stuck in small blood vessels; this slows or blocks the flow of oxygen to the body.
Little sweet, huggable, adorable Kenzy is so sweet and quiet. Here he is holding a little toy, but, when it comes to schoolwork, “books aren’t his favorite things!” We love Kenzy and he is under a doctor’s care. We hope and pray that his life will be better. He is too sweet to be sick. We love this little guy, Sherry
