Kenzy… He Can Melt Your Heart with a Smile!

Little Kenzy is sweet but so, so fragile. Little Kenzy’s mother died during childbirth from eclampsia, and his father died “before he was born.” Little is known about any brothers or sisters. He was brought to us from the mountains by a Haitian Pastor. His skin color was horrible and he was extremely frail. He was full of sores. Later, we found out that he had “sickle cell anemia.” He has been in and out of the hospital here, many times, for blood transfusions.

Blood transfusions in Haiti are horrible. First, you must send a relative downtown to the Blood Bank to give blood, before they can do a transfusion. With the gangs in the streets, people die before they can get blood.

But Kenzy is doing better now. He is still frail, but he is in K-3 and he is five years old. He’s quiet but he has a “sneaky little smile.” (Really cute!) We hope and pray that Kenzy’s health improves each day!!! The kids call him, “Di Di.” He can “melt your heart” with a smile!
