This little boy is Dieumano. He is from one of the villages in Haiti that make most of the “mud cookies” that other hungry children in Haiti eat.

We have been feeding and working in these areas to help mothers get a job and start a business, that way, they can send their children to school and have a better life.

The problem in Haiti now is that food has become very, very scarce due to political problems. The price of food has “skyrocketed,” and people are desperate. When they don’t have food to eat, they have their children “drink salt water,” or “eat mud cookies.”

Dieumano cannot read or write. He does not know the difference from one day to the next, because “every day is the same.” He is working the mud, to make those “mud cookies.”
