Antoine Lormencia, along with his wife, lost their house to the earthquake in the south of Haiti and are now safely established in their new home built by Love A Child. For over thirty years, the Antoine couple has made mortar and pestles, as well as baskets to sell in the local outdoor marketplace to provide for their family of 10.

A mortar and pestle sells for $6.00 and is used by every Haitian household to grind corn, millet, and other grains. The couple produces up to 5 baskets per week and sells them for only 33 cents each! Now that the Antoine family has a shelter built for free from Love A Child, their family will continue to exist on this meager income!
