Today was “scrubbing floors” day! We put all the kids to work, even Zachary!! We have a “two-story” orphanage, so that means, “everyone works,” even the little ones, like Zachary and Zoey! The kids never complain. For them, it’s “loud music, laughter, and hard work (and sometimes, they get caught “skating!” Ha!)
They all have daily chores, but scrubbing is a big “chore!” When my back is turned, I find them “skating” barefoot, and they almost give me a “heart attack!” They don’t realize the danger of falling on these hard cement floors. I broke my back on them years ago, so I’m always warning them to be careful! These chores will take about two hours, because it is really a lot of work… however, Haitian kids know how to turn work into fun!
