Life is best lived when we have a purpose, some way to apply ourselves and be productive. Having purpose and achievement also gives us dignity, pride, and self-worth. I mention this because not long ago, after the terrible earthquake, many Haitians found themselves with nothing, no homes, no communities, and missing or dead family members. Hundreds of thousands of them were displaced from the city to the country to try to find a new life. They had nothing, and very little to feel hopeful about, but God had a plan for their recovery. God knew that many of you would sponsor our new Development for Sustainability outreaches, including our agricultural gardening training classes. Before this, many of these guys only thought vegetables came from the market. They have now learned to “farm God’s way” through our sustainable gardening classes. Now they know exactly where vegetables come from. They know by their own hand’s efforts that these did not just come from the market! Here you see them proudly harvesting a variety of delicious, nutritious vegetables. They have learned the skills necessary to maintain bountiful gardens that serve five kitchens on the Love A Child campus. They are now local heroes when they show up with their harvests. Three of these guys are currently students in our two-year sustainable agriculture training program taught by ATC Director, Wilner Exil. They and 15 other two-year students will graduate soon in December. Through your continued sponsorship, these men now have skills, purpose, and a bright and happy hope for a better tomorrow for themselves and their families.
