Lunch with Baptist Mission

We had lunch today with some “heroes of the faith!!”

We met with Wallace Turnbull and his wife Eleanor, along with Austin Holmes, with Mission of Hope, which now runs the operation of Baptist Mission.

The father of Wallace Turnbull came to Haiti in 1943. It was a “much different Haiti,” back then. They built churches, schools, had self-help projects, and taught farming and terracing to the Haitians. The entire family has been widely respected by all the missionaries here.

Wallace is now 93 and his wife is 94. What a couple! Their memories are sharp and they are incredible people!!! They are true legends. Baptist Mission is a true legend and they are heroes of the faith.

I’m always reading books on “what to eat and what not to eat,” for health, so I thought I would ask them what they eat… both said at the same time, “we eat everything! Ha!”

It was great to see the Turnbulls again after many years, the “heroes” of faith whose family founded the Baptist Mission work in Haiti.
