Just look at this sweet, 15-year-old boy, with a huge smile. We were in the village of Covant, Haiti, our “hardest-to-reach,” village, where we had a Love A Child church and school. It had already taken us hours by foot and mule to reach this location. We didn’t have much money back then, so our “Mobile Clinic,” was in a large hut with an open space.
I looked into the face of a poor farmer, carrying a small child in his arms, about age two or less. The child was swollen badly… his face was moon-shaped, with a huge belly. His legs were so swollen that they were “ripping open!” We knew he would not live without medical help. We took him back with us and began the long process of medical care. He survived Kwashiorkor malnutrition!
Later, we brought him to our Love A Child Orphanage and raised him in our family. The only health problem he has is due to a stroke he had in fourth grade. He walks with a limp. Mackenson is in 9th grade, loves the Lord, and wants to be a geography teacher! Thank you, partners, for impacting another life!
