People come to our gate from morning to night, here at Love A Child. Many people are looking for a job, but we can’t hire more people than we need. Many times it is a mother needing food for her children, or other needs. It is hard to explain, but it is tiresome and draining, especially when you cannot help them all.

Each month, Madamn Esteline comes to our gate for a box of food for her children. Then she walks way back up to her children. Today, she came to share her story. She has nine children to feed. Her husband left her. She tries to sell things to keep seven of them in school in the mountains, but they always get sent home for no payment.

When there is no food, they go outside and eat dirt. Then, they get sick. There is no water up where she lives so she has to spend money on water. She has borrowed so much that she can no longer get credit. She tells me that when her children cry because of hunger, it is like someone is putting a gun to her head! Her youngest child is sick, but she says that if the child dies, it is better off than being hungry. It was a hard story to listen to.

I gave her a large bag of rice and $300 U.S. to change to gourdes. I told her to buy things to sell and keep money back to feed her children and buy more to sell. She left, praising God! It was such a small amount to give when comparing it to what we spend money on, that does no good. I know some of you have given to needs like this… thank you so much, for becoming the answer to prayer to someone’s need!!
