Mikalange is the twin of “Mika.” (We have two Mikas… so we named the other one, “Ti Mika.”) The twins were born high in the mountains of our “furthest, hardest to reach,” village, Covant.

Many poor mothers in Haiti die in childbirth, especially when they are having twins or triplets. The mother’s health is poor and there is no hospital in those areas. When their mother died in childbirth, their father brought the babies to us. Of course, we couldn’t say, “no.” One thing about twins… they are usually “north to south.” Mikalange is the south. She is quiet and you would never know she is in the room. She’s 13 and in the 7th grade. She is the opposite of her sister, Mika (who is a “pistol!”) Mikalange loves music and she is learning how to play the drums. She loves to cook and wants to be a “dentist!” Mikalange is such a sweetie and a hard-working girl! It has been thirteen years since that poor father came and handed us two little babies. We love them so much.
