More Hard Work by the Agricultural Training Center Team

“Work hard to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'” Acts 20:35

Everybody at Love A Child works hard to support the weak, and the results of the work of the guys at the Agricultural Training Center (ATC) are easy to see. Weekly large harvests for the kitchens at Love A Child and all the gardens and nurseries with their many growing plants show the results of their continual hard work.

This week, they achieved so much: transplanted new watermelon and cucumber plants into the growing beds; prepared a planting medium for 420 new bamboo cuttings to fortify our Reforestation nursery stock; planted many rows of sweet potatoes; and fertilized all the recently planted coconut trees.

The new bamboo cuttings will yield a valuable “crop” of new bamboo to be broadly distributed to benefit many remote villages. The clumping bamboo is very versatile and useful for many things from stabilizing the soil, promoting more rainfall, sequestering carbon from the atmosphere and even providing useful building material.

The coconut trees were “dressed” with common salt (NaCL) to help defend against termites and to prevent bud shedding so more fruits (coconuts) develop.

They also tend the goats and chickens every day, giving fresh water and fresh feed, cleaning their respective areas, and harvesting their important manure for making organic fertilizers. Wilner and his ATC team are always working hard, but they rejoice in the opportunity to help support the weak.

We thank all our supporters who give towards our Sustainability outreaches, supporting Haitians and helping Haitians.

Rad Hazelip Assistant Executive Director.
