More Villages Distributing Food

We have been to three more villages today distributing food and have two more tomorrow. In the last few days, we have had more mothers with babies at our front gate, coming for food, than ever before. The one yesterday that touched our hearts, was a mother who had a small newborn infant and a dirty five-year-old boy. The baby belonged to her sister, who had just died. This woman’s husband left her with five hungry children and her sister died, leaving a new baby… that is six mouths to feed and “no job.”

The neighbors had been feeding both her and her children. This woman looked so sad and depressed that she held her head down. She was dirty, ragged and looked as though “she was at the end of her rope.” She will return tomorrow and we must have a plan for her and her children to live. When I told the mother we could take the baby, tears ran down her face. She does not realize this is a legal problem for us. We must take her and the baby to the Department of Social Services first, and then see how we can help.

This is the hardest things for any missionary… seeing the “overwhelming needs of the poor…” every day. Sherry
