One of our drivers was going through a small village when someone told him the story about a little baby. Apparently, the pregnant mother did not want another child, so she went to a Haitian outhouse and sat down to give birth. She did not want the baby, so she let him drop down inside and left him to die. As soon as the mother left, the baby began to whimper… An older man heard the cry, tied a rope around his waist, and two men hoisted him down into the outhouse. He brought up a baby covered in feces. He was still breathing. The ladies of the village cleaned him up and sent him to “Petit Frere ak Se” (Little Brothers and Sisters) hospital. After checking him out, the baby was sent to Social Services. They called us and we took him in! We decided to call him, “Moses!”
