Efrane Blanc is an old Haitian man, around 80 years old. He lives in the locality of Mokou, in Arnaud, in the area of the recent earthquake. He is a sweet, elderly man who lost one of his eight children in the earthquake — a son he dearly loved.
He lives far from his children, in extreme poverty. In order to get food, he makes “mats” to lie on. He sells them for 100 Gourdes each (about one U.S. Dollar).
If he does not sell the mats, he does not eat… Imagine trying to buy food for $1.00 when the prices are higher in Haiti!
Hubert, the man in the picture with Mr. Blanc, is our Love a Child Representative in the entire earthquake zone. The people think of Hubert, as a “papa.” He is always finding an elderly lady to cook for, a blind person who needs help, or someone that could be “alone and overlooked.” So, Hubert took him lots of food that you, our partners, sent in money to buy… beans, rice, cooking oil, etc. It was the “first time,” he had ever received any food like this!! It was the first time anyone had given him food!!
The food that you sacrificed and gave money for is still helping the hungry and poor in this earthquake area. Words are not enough to thank you, for all you have done! You have gone “the extra mile,” to put food in the stomachs of the hungry! You are the best of the best and we love you, for your heart to help the poor!
In deepest appreciation and love.
