My Little Weed Eaters

It has been raining a lot here in Haiti for that last six weeks; drenching rain! It’s good for the plants, but the weeds grow faster! You may have the luxury of a good lawn mower and weed eater in the States. And when you need it, you can go to any gas station and buy fuel for the lawn mower or buy extra coil string for your weed eater at the hardware store. We don’t have that luxury to count on here, because gas stations are usually closed and we have to find a “barrel at a time.” Recently, there have been roadblocks, burning tires, and gangs with guns, before you can even get to any hardware store. You could get shot just trying to find a part for your weed eater! “Our kids are our little ‘weed eaters!’” They love to work (well… some of them love to work), and on the front-line today was Colin, Lucson, and Jameson! (Camey is the older guy who keeps the little “weed eaters” working.) There is no school today as the teachers and children cannot make it to the schools. We are all praying and believing that things in Haiti will get better! We love our children, but Poppie Bobby “hates those weeds!” Sherry
