I remember the day we first met Nazalie’s mother. She had come across the lake in a tiny boat, holding her tiny baby in her arms. Nazalie (Rachael) was always “sickly,” she would say. There were no doctors in the small village, which was made mostly of palm leaves. As was to be expected, her father disappeared, leaving this poor, frail mother to raise children and a baby by herself! (Men like this should go to jail!)
We helped her all we could by getting doctors’ care, but each time, the baby got worse. Finally, her mother asked if we could take her in. One look at that mother’s face seemed to say, “I cannot care for another child.” Nazalie “grew up quickly!” Nourishing food helped her study hard in school and to make good grades! Nazalie is growing into a beautiful young woman at the age of 14. She will be in 9th grade and wants to be a nurse!! The funny thing is… she still loves “Jump Rope!”
Thanks to you, our wonderful partners, who have saved another life! May God richly bless you.
