New School Savaan Pit

New School in Savaan Pit: 4-24-18 5:10 PM

It has been a long day. Philemon, and one of our older orphanage boys who is into photography named Dieuferly, and a local security man named Dieupanou all left for Savaan Pit at 7:00 AM. It took us about three-and-half-hours to get there “driving like Philemon drives…” fast! We have been working on building a new Savaan Pit School for about a year. The old one was cracked, broken and destroyed by hurricanes and storms. This one is being built “like Fort Knox!” Just imagine having to haul materials over these mountains for hours to get here. Then, working in the heat of the sun! The U-shaped building is the new school going up. It can house about 600 children! You will see other pictures where the children are crowded into the church or a small older room. This is the only school in this area, and it is a “Christian School!”

These children walk for MILES across high mountains and very steep terrain, just to come to school. They can “run straight down a mountain at full speed and never fall or slip!” (Unlike us foreigners!!! Ha!) These children are so, so sweet! We want to thank everyone who has donated to help build this school, and thank all of our Child Sponsorship Partners for sponsoring these precious children to go to school, have a hot meal and plenty of love! Bobby says “Love Is Something You Do!” Sherry

PS: We will soon be planning a Mobile Medical Clinic for this village.
