A Doorkeeper?
It is amazing to me that sometimes Christians think of themselves as someone of greater importance than they are. They have never learned to serve.
Bobby and I love Pastor Jentzen Franklin, not only because he is a great minister with a giving heart, but because he is so humble. It is not easy to find people who have a powerful ministry, and yet, they are humble. That is Jentezen Franklin.
When the 2010 earthquake hit, Pastor Franklin, like others, was a great blessing to our ministry. Pastor Jentzen wanted to come to Haiti to meet with Bobby and see the ways he could help.
Since many roads were devastated, he took a helicopter. When the helicopter landed at Love A Child, Bobby and I went to meet him and his family. As he and Bobby were walking across the yard to the Orphanage, he noticed that Bobby’s tennis shoes were untied! Bobby didn’t want to stop his conversation and get down and tie his shoes… he kept dragging his shoelaces through the grass.
Pastor Jentezen noticed and said, “Bobby, please stop for a moment…” When we stopped, he got down on his knees and tied Bobby’s tennis shoe laces! Bobby quickly apologized to him, but Pastor just smiled and said, “no problem.” It was a small thing done in a big way…
David said, “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord, than to dwell in the tents of the wicked.” Psalm 84:10
So, to those of you who do those jobs in your church that no one else wants to do, or all the other jobs that you may be doing that no one else wants to do, the Lord sees everything, and He is well-pleased with you!!! Keep on doing what you’re doing!!
