Old Letant Food Distribution

This is a very unusual village… It is located by a lake. Most people come here to live from other villages because they “try to catch fish” to sell. There are so many “kay pays” (mud-and-stick huts), popping up each day! This village has “so many people and so many children!”

We have been working in the village of “Old Letant” for many years. All of the hundreds of families, except maybe two, live in these “kay pays.” The floors are dirt, and usually, there are only two rooms to each “kay pay.” When it rains, the mud-and-stick walls turn into slimy mud! These are “inhumane” conditions. The villagers try to fish, but most of the fish are “farther out in the lake,” which means they would need a boat.

Thankfully, our church is also a “school,” and these children will get a hot meal each day!!!! There are no jobs and each family member must try to help with the problem of food…

Some villagers gather sticks and make charcoal… It would be rare for the children of these families to have even “one meal” a day, and if they receive this, they are getting it at our school.

You can see the view from the top of all the mud huts… and the lines of people swarming around the truck full of food! This “one box of food for their children” means everything to them!!

We wish to thank all of our partners who feed the poor, not only in Letant, but in all the other villages where we work! May you be richly blessed, according to Psalms 41:1-3! Thank you, Bobby and Sherry Burnette
