What a difference one year can make!
This week makes one year that Noah has been a part of our Love A Child Family. I can remember the day like it was just yesterday, and can replay the emotions over and over in my head. The night before Noah was found, it was raining pretty badly. It rained all night long just up until daylight the next morning. The day started as normal. Around 6:45 in the morning, I got a call saying there was a boy abandoned outside of our gate. I jumped into the truck and went outside the gate to find a scared little boy crying, who had been sitting in the mud and rain all night long. He was searching for help and love. Not knowing how he would take to a “white person,” I stood back, squatted down and looked at him and said, “come here” in a gentle voice. He did not think twice. He came, dove into my arms and held a grip that I had never felt before. We immediately called Haiti’s Social Services and took him to see the doctor. It was very clear that he had been severely beaten. Beaten so badly that you could see the stripes on his back and all his teeth had been knocked out. It took him two months before he would say one word! He would hide his food because he thought, “it would be his last meal.” It took a lot of work and a lot of time to gain his trust! But WITH GOD he has come around and now he is nothing but a handful!!! He goes nonstop, and is now in school! He has come so far and continues to surprise us on a daily basis! We love him so much, and we know he was placed in our hands for a reason! Love, Kaeli
