Dimelia, one of our Love A Child children, has been in the Dominican Republic for about four months. Dimelia was badly burned from her neck to her stomach when she was three years old. She was not able to turn her neck or raise her arms because of the scar tissue.

We had to send her back and forth to the Shriners Hospital in Boston for many years. She was lacking one more surgery on her chest area but was not able to get a visa to go back. Her pain increased and there was no help at all for her in Haiti. We contacted our friends, David and Angie George, and they in turn contacted their friends in the Dominican Republic, RL and Vanessa. They agreed to find a doctor and hospital where she could have an exam. The doctor could not do the surgery but recommended a series of shots in her chest to help expand the scar tissue, as well as help with the pain.

RL and Vanessa agreed to take care of Dimelia and drive her to the doctor to get her shots, which was hours away. They took such great care of Dimelia, and today was the big day! Our mechanic, Joker, left his job with us and went to the Dominican Republic to pick up Dimelia! He brought her back today, amid a lot of “screaming brothers and sisters” jumping up and down! There were hugs and kisses!! Her “sisters,” especially, had decorated her room!

We all love Dimelia! She has been accepted to a medical college in Italy, which is the same college our Haitian daughter Florence is attending! We feel that the doors are opening for her. She wants to be a doctor! Thank you, Partners, for your prayers and love for Dimelia!
